Job summary

Hotel Services are beginning a focused management restructure and are looking to recruit a Food and Beverage Compliance Officer reporting to the department Catering Operations Manager.You will be responsible for overseeing continuity of the patient meal service across our hospital sites and cafeteria outlets.

This is a hand on posts so a good knowledge of catering practices and procedures will be required which may have been gained in a similar hospital environment or in the catering private sector.

The position will be based at Isebrook Hospital in Wellingborough, the post holder will be required to regularly travel to the other hospitals in the county to support the catering teams ensuring our high standards are maintained.

The department currently provides a patient meal service to 450+ patients in eight hospital sites across Northamptonshire, each with onsite catering service. The department also provides retail caf service for patient's, staff, and visitors in five of the hospital sites.

Main duties of the job

Oversee the food and beverage patient and retail function across multiple hospital sites, ensuring deadlines are met as required by the customer base.

Ensure continuity of the service is provided for all service users.

Ensure NHS standards and guidance for food and beverage provision are followed and maintained.

Keep up to date with current legislation and trends in the catering sector.

Assist with the upkeep of the patient menus provided; working alongside dietitians providing knowledge of a range of speciality foods to ensuring patient meal and drink service are within prescribed guidelines across the range of patients the Trust cares for.

Oversee and ensure continuity for the retail outlets caf and vending service as well as the function service. Plan and implement development strategies to improve the service and financial margins.

Supervise and support Catering Team Leaders which will be achieved by using a sound background, knowledge and experience gained from food preparation and cooking experience.

Responsible for monitoring to ensure food hygiene standards and guidelines are maintained and all statutory and NHS standard requirements and legislation are adhered to and maintained.

Work closely with the Hotel Services Management Team to deliver improved services whilst improving efficiencies within budget

Knowledge Essential

General education inclulding literacy and numeracy An understanding of the importance of health & safety an understanding of the importance of hygiene

Experience Essential

Knowledge / experience of working ina a catering industry environment and able to demonstrate practial cleaning skills Experience and knowledge of computer technologies and software packages Allergen training and awareness Food Hygiene, level 4

Desirable

Managing multiple budgets knowledge of nutrition and dietry requirements
