We are looking to recruit a GPA to work at our Long Lane PCN based in Hayes.
The PCN covers the following practices:
Acorn Medical CentreHeathrow Medical CentreParkview SurgeryPine Medical CentreShakespeare Health CentreWillow Tree SurgeryYeading Court
A GPA will support the GP(s) smooth running of clinics by performing the more routine administration and clinical tasks on behalf of the GP freeing up their time to focus on the patient.
Main duties of the job
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notesArranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patientsPreparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy

Job description Job responsibilities
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notesArranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patientsPreparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment.Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomyCompleting basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etcExplaining treatment procedures to patientsHelping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)Support the GP with immunisations/wound care

Post holder must hold a GP Assistant Certificate qualification or work towards oneParticipation in an annual individual performance review, including taking responsibility for maintaining a record of own personal and/or professional developmentTaking responsibility for own development, learning and performance and demonstrating skills and activities to others who are undertaking similar workAttend all relevant annual updatesInform the lead GP of any concerns regarding GPA role and any professional development neededBe aware of own professional boundaries and what to do when you have reached them

Special Working Conditions:

Person Specification
Experience Essential
Experience of coordinating tasks and liaising with multiple healthcare professionals both internal and external to the organisation. Experience of using technology and digital tools
Desirable
Primary Care experience as a Healthcare Assistant, Practice Administrator, or other. Experience of working with healthcare professionals and or previous experience in the NHS or social care or relevant field. Experience of using clinical systems such as EMIS.
Qualifications Essential
GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths Willing to work towards a GP Assistant Certification qualification
