Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for the post of School Nursing Team Lead.

The Team Lead will work alongside the Public Health Nursing Lead; and will be required to work as a member of the School Nursing Team acting as operational lead.

Please note for this role you must holda current, valid, full driving license and has access to a car for work purposes.

Main duties of the job

This role will be responsible for:

Deciding how to approach tasks and develop a plan in order to accomplish them and be able to evaluate the plan.The team's Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and for ensuring that they are met.Distributing information to team members and also to all key stakeholders and will support the Public Health Nursing Lead in the provision of supervision and annual appraisals to team members.Supporting any SCPHN School Nursing Students, undertaking an appropriate assessor qualification if not already held.Work in partnership with children, young people and families to promote their health and wellbeing and provide a key link between health and education whilst promoting multi-agency working to support their needs. School nurses are the professional lead for children aged 5-19 years as part of Public Health Englands prevention and early intervention programme called the Healthy Child Programme.

Job description Job responsibilities

The School Nurse Team Lead (TL) provides operational leadership to the School Nursing team,working closely with the Public Health Nursing Lead to drive service delivery. The TL will beresponsible for determining strategic approaches to tasks, developing and implementing action plans,and to critically evaluate outcomes to ensure continuous improvement. The TL will be accountable forthe team's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring all clinical and operational targets are met,alongside acting as a vital communication hub for cascading information to team members and key external stakeholders.

The TL will support clinical governance and contribute directly to the professional growth of the teamby providing clinical supervision and conducting annual performance appraisals. Also responsible for mentoring and supporting Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (SCPHN) School Nursingstudents. This includes a commitment to undertaking and achieving an appropriate practice assessorqualification.

Experience Essential

Able to communicate in a way that is clear, effective and direct. Possesses strong organisational skills to monitor progress and keep team members motivated, with a proven ability to delegate tasks effectively to individual team members. Demonstrates high levels of integrity in the role to gain the trust and respect of the team. Displays confidence and competence in clinical duties to instill confidence across the wider team. Post-registration experience in school nursing, with a deep knowledge of the Healthy Child Programme and the relevant theory that informs practice delivery. Experienced in building strong partnerships, maintaining relationships, and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders (including children, young people, and their families), while advocating on behalf of service users. Experience in keeping and maintaining records in accordance with local policy and the NMC Code, as well as producing accurate reports, presentations, and written updates for a range of stakeholders. Comprehensive knowledge of statutory legislation (such as the Children Act 1989) and national policy drivers affecting childrens services and the role.
