The NCA are delighted to offer a full time, post for a Band 2 Ward Clerk (37.5 hours) to join our friendly, supportive Paediatric Team at the Royal Oldham Hospital. This is a fixed term post for 9 months to cover Maternity Leave.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic and self-motivated Ward Clerk to be part of a large team of health professionals, who has the ability to meet the challenges of working on a fast paced Children's unit consisting of 4 distinct areas:
INPATIENTS - 25 inpatient beds with scope to open to additional capacity during periods of high demand providing quality care to a large variety of patients with medical and complex needs whilst also providing an expanding paediatric surgical service.
CRITICAL CARE - A newly expanded 4 bedded critical care area to care for level 1 and 2 paediatric critical care patients.
PAEDIATRIC OBSERVATION & ASSESSMENT UNIT (POAU)- a busy 24hour unit working closely with colleagues in paediatric Accident and Emergency, Primary and Tertiary Care
OUTPATIENTS - We provide Outpatient services to children and young people across Oldham and Rochdale from two sites.
You will be part of a team of Ward Clerks working together to meet the needs and demands of the service.
Main duties of the job
As a Ward Clerk you will be able to work on your own initiative, managing your own workload as well as being part of a supportive energetic team. You will be responsible for providing all administrative duties from answering the telephone, updating and ensuring prompt admission and discharges, filing, making case notes and lots more. Experience of working in the NHS is an advantage but not essential as full training will be given. You must be computer literate desirable to the NHS systems and have excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to approach families in a sensitive manner.
