Job summary
We are looking for a 0.8wte Band 4 Therapy support worker to join our Occupational therapy team in Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD). This position is fixed term for 9 months.
We are an integrated childrens community services and looking for enthusiastic individuals with some relevant experience to join us.
The post holder will be based within the North locality at Springfield Court, and be part of the North OT Team. We are a community service and as well as working from our clinic base, we work in schools, nurseries, and families homes across the North Devon area. You will work alongside the Occupational therapists to assess, implement and evaluate OT interventions to create the best outcomes for children. The role will also include supporting the team to run parent or child groups, clinics and manage specialist equipment reviews.
Main duties of the job
To follow up assessment, planning implementation and evaluation of delegated caseload and escalating changes to the registered therapist for children and young people with physical and sensory, communication and interaction and cognition and learning needs in a variety of settings
To undertake clinical interventions utilising a variety of modes, including planning and leading group and individual therapy.
To participate in ordering and issue of appropriate equipment as part of packages of prescribed care after achieving appropriate competencies
Using strengths-based approach; ensure clinical effectiveness through the use of evidenced-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice and Routine Outcome Measures
To support in the supervision of Trainees
To promote and support participation of service users across the service
Produce materials and make equipment as required
Assist in the delivery of training

Qualifications Essential
Training to NVQ level 3 or equivalent Additional CPD courses relevant to role equivalent to Diploma level Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/ GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths)
Experience Essential
Working knowledge of typical child development Understanding of SEN/D process Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care including Clinical Governance, NICE, Essence of Care Knowledge of up to date clinical practice Working with children with special and complex needs Experience delivering therapeutic programmes Experience in working as a healthcare worker
