About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced dermatology nurse to join the Dermatology Department at the Royal London Hospital as a Skin Cancer CNS on secondment. The successful candidate must be a clinical expert in skin cancer with excellent communication skills. The role requires the ability to work autonomously and independently but within an integrated collaborative team. You will continually develop, implement and evaluate the skin cancer service to improve and maintain standards of patient care and promote a seamless service within a multi-disciplinary team framework. Main duties of the job

To work as an advance practitioner to effectively deliver an expert nursing service, primarilyfor NMSC, early melanoma and rare skin cancer patients. To ensure this caseload ofpatients and their families are fully informed and supported by providing clinical and socialsupport. To assist in the development of evidence-based clinical nursing practice in line withcurrent research and guideline, and to establish clear lines of communication to ensurecohesive multidisciplinary management of patient.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Registered Nurse with significant experience working at a senior level. RGN/1st level registration. Recognised Skin Cancer Qualification or willingness to work towards. Relevant higher academic qualification in skin lesion recognition / skin cancer / dermatology. Teaching/ membership qualification e.g. ENB 998 or equivalent. Clinical assessment and consultation skills.

Desirable

Non-medical prescriber. Communication skills training. Psychological support training level 2 Dermatoscope training course Assessment skills qualification.

Experience Essential

Registered Nurse with significant experience working at a senior level. Previous experience of running nurse led clinics / automatous practice Evidence of implementing significant changes of service development that promote good practice. Management skills with previous staff management experience.

Desirable

Coaching/ CBT/ motivational interviewing training experience. History of working automatously. Post registration experience in Oncology / palliative care or relevant subject.

Knowledge Essential

Knowledge of Trust wide and Department of Health initiative/ national cancer agenda. Knowledge of skin cancer pier review process. Knowledge of shared governance. Knowledge of delivery of Dermatology service. Advanced theoretical and specialist knowledge of Dermatology/ skin cancer. Aware of the national cancer agenda and guidelines.

Desirable

Demonstrate knowledge of individualised care delivery.
