We are looking for a reliable, passionate and collaborative Lead Stroke Nurse to join our specialist stroke service and play a key role in delivering outstanding patient-centred care. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced nurse who is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families affected by stroke.
Our service is dedicated to providing high-quality, evidence-based stroke care across the patient pathway, from emergency assessment and acute treatment through to rehabilitation and recovery support. As Lead Stroke Nurse, you will provide clinical leadership, inspire and support multidisciplinary teams and help drive service development to ensure safe, effective and ethical care delivery. The role contributes directly to improving patient outcomes, enhancing patient experience and supporting innovation within the stroke service. You will promote a culture of candour, accountability and collaboration, while acting as a role model for professional standards and best practice.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, strong clinical expertise in stroke care and the ability to take ownership of service priorities while maintaining a balanced and supportive approach to leadership. You will work closely with consultants, therapists, community partners and senior leadership teams to ensure seamless and high-quality care for patients throughout their recovery journey.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC Registration. First-level degree/Master's degree in Stroke or Advanced Clinical Practice or working towards the same. V300 non-medical prescriber or working towards. Formal teaching qualification or experience of teaching.
Experience Essential
Clinical knowledge and experience in the assessment and management of hyperacute, acute, and long-term stroke. Experience working in an acute care setting. Clinical decision-making skills and the application of professional judgement in complex clinical situations. Able to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of Leadership, demonstrating integrity, utilising excellent interpersonal skills within a co-operative, multi-disciplinary working environment. Experience of undertaking audits and utilising the output for service improvement. Experienced in the supervision and development of other staff.
