About this role

Job summary

Seeking bank night RN's to cover our wards, with care 24 hours a day, mainly Monday - Friday, with some weekends.

Provide direct patient care throughout the patients clinical pathways of care, from outpatient assessments, through in hospital care and surgery, to their recovery and discharge home, with follow-up care as required. Mix of day case surgery and short length of stay surgery, with Cosmetic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology and General Surgery. (Expansion to other specialities is anticipated)

Main duties of the job

Develop own competence to deliver effective care and treatments through improving clinical skills, technical knowledge and expertise. Opportunities to develop skills to undertake preoperative assessment. Communicate appropriately with others involved in the care of the patient. Act as an advocate for safe patient care, working with the multi-disciplinary team to continually improve service provision. Proactive patient management. Ensure the provision of individualised patient care, providing excellent standards of individual care. Support the team to deliver safe, effective elective care in an independent hospital, contributing to provide treatment of patients, private, insured and NHS funded. Support the team in demonstrating compassion through effective relationships based on empathy, respect and dignity.

Facilities at the hospital include 21 inpatient beds, disabled-friendly rooms, 2 laminar flow operating theatres and 3 consultation rooms.

We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, cosmetic surgery, and women's health, but also undertake general surgery.

Job description Job responsibilities

Duties Include Support the ward manager in implementation of an agreed plan of care with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received. Help promote and maintain an environment conducive to meeting the needs of the patient / relatives and carers. Contribute to a team approach to patient care in conjunction with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Contribute to the legality and accuracy of the patients care plan/ and or other reports and the effectiveness of the established communication /reporting system over the full 24hrs. Participate in regular ward meetings and attend other meetings as requested. Undertake tasks and procedures, in which competency has been assessed and recorded specific to the care environment. Provide support and assistance to the ward manager. All team members are responsible for behaving in a manner that does not put themselves, patients, visitors and other team members in danger or at risk in the clinical environment. Conduct yourself professionally within the standard and framework provided by the Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) Codes of professional Conduct and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). To take charge of the clinical area as required, ensuring effective operational management of clinical area on a daily basis. Be an advocate for change, looking for ways to improve the value and effectiveness of care and services delivered. Encouraging evidenced based clinical practice. Actively participate in customer satisfaction surveys and satisfaction action plans, leading by example to junior members of the team. Compliance with KINVARA Policies and Procedures relevant to this role, ensuring you are fully aware of your responsibilities within these policies. Ensure effective communication channels are maintained across all areas of the hospital. To assist in the maintenance of stock levels, including pharmaceutical products. To assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times. To assist the patient to ensure they have the opportunity to meet their individual dietary requirements. Ensuring all patients receive their chosen and correct meals. To receive and convey information from telephone or personal enquiries in a courteous manner and ensure all persons visiting the ward are greeted and assisted in a welcoming and supportive manner. To escort stable patients to and from all wards and departments within the hospital. To keep up to date with all mandatory training and revalidation

Person Specification

Experience Essential

Minimum of two years working on a surgical ward.

Desirable

Experience of working within the private sector.

Qualifications Essential

BSC Hons Adult Nursing ILS Oral/IV Medication Administration Wound care management

Desirable

Phlebotomy Cannulation
