Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the team at The Harbour, Blackpool, as a Band 7 Clinical Specialist.
The Harbour is a modern, purpose-built 154-bed Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit providing care for individuals with complex mental health needs. This role offers the opportunity to provide clinical leadership, support service development, and deliver high-quality, person-centred care within a dynamic inpatient setting.
You will work collaboratively across inpatient services and with community teams to support recovery-focused pathways and improve outcomes for service users.
Main duties of the job
Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessment, formulation, and intervention for service users with complex needs
Lead and support the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based OT practice within the inpatient setting
Contribute to multidisciplinary team (MDT) working, including risk assessment, care planning, and discharge planning
Support patient flow and timely, safe discharge planning
Provide clinical leadership, support, and supervision to Occupational Therapy staff and students
Contribute to service development, quality improvement, and governance processes
Work collaboratively with inpatient and community teams to ensure continuity of care

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
HCPC First degree/equivalent professional pre-registration qualification in Occupational Therapy Significant post qualification experience in the relevant field. Clinical based post-graduate qualification
Knowledge Essential
Extensive specialist knowledge of the care and management of patients in area of speciality Expert clinician with advanced clinical reasoning and manual therapy skills Knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights and the competencies appropriate to your role to support patients' diverse needs and human rights. Have a good understanding of their communication, physical & emotional needs; can identify their individual needs and preferences, their changing needs and recognise and promote their independence.
Experience Essential
Significant post registration experience in the speciality area including having worked as a clinical specialist (band 6) in area of speciality Experience of collaborative working with a range of multi-agency and inter professional resources Experience of clinical team leadership Evidence of having influenced and implemented change
