Job summary

The Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Local Health Board's Clinical Engineering Department delivers medical equipment management services throughout the Health Board.

The department provides a broad range of complex, routine and non-routine activities including planned preventive maintenance, repair, calibration, safety testing, quality assurance, evaluation, commissioning, decommissioning, of medical equipment.

We currently have a vacancy for a Band 4 Healthcare Science Associate. The successful candidate will become part of a team, specialised in servicing, maintaining and managing a range of medical equipment based in Princess of Wales Hospital, (although the post-holder will be expected to carry out their duties across the Health Board as necessary).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a medical technical service support that will include the acceptance, test, repair, calibration and preventative maintenance of electrical, electronic, electro-medical, mechano-medical and medical gas equipment within the UHB.

On occasion there may requirement to travel to other sites within the UHB to assist with workload/schedules or for training purposes.

Will use various health board software packages in the course of their duty, such as recording of jobs for medical equipment, and stock/parts ordering and distribution.

You will have a UK accredited OND/HNC/HND in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience in Electronics/Clinical Engineering. Specific training on a range of medical devices will be provided. Computer literacy along with excellent team working and communication skills will be required.

Person Specification

Values Essential

The applicant must be motivated and possesses a non-judgemental attitude towards others. Works well both as an individual and as part of a team, always acting in a professional manner.

Aptitude and Abilities Essential

Proven organisational and time management skills. Ability to demonstrate an excellent standard of written communication skills/ literacy.

Desirable

Ability to demonstrate good standard of record keeping in line with quality standards. Welsh language skills in Speaking/Listening at Level 3 or above

Experience Essential

The ability to display a working knowledge of electronic, electrical/ mechanical engineering. Ability to produce written and verbal reports pertinent to the post i.e. technical documentation.

Desirable

Previous experience in Electronics repair and maintenance environment.

Qualifications and/or Knowledge Essential

OND/HNC/HND in Electronic & Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification/experience in Electronics/Clinical Engineering Evidence of continuous professional development in relevant sphere.

Desirable

Eligibility for membership of IPEM RCT and Clinical Technologists Scheme.
