Job summary
Springfield Surgery is looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Practice Nurse to join our friendly and supportive team.
We are a well-established GP practice serving patients from modern premises within Canalside Healthcare Centre, Bingley. We pride ourselves on providing high-quality, patient-centred care whilst maintaining a welcoming and supportive working environment for our staff.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with previous General Practice experience who is confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
Chronic disease management including diabetes,asthma, COPD, and cardiovascular disease
Cervical cytology (smears)
Childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations
ECGs and spirometry
Venepuncture and pathology requests
Wound care and dressings
Health promotion and preventative healthcare
NHS Health Checks and screening programmes
Contraceptive and sexual health advice (where trained)
Supporting the practice in achieving quality improvement and QOF targets
Maintaining accurate clinical records using SystmOne
About us
At Springfield Surgery, we pride ourselves on maintaining a supportive, friendly, and caring environment for both our patients and staff. We are a well-established practice based in Bingley, delivering personalised, high-quality healthcare to around 7,600 patients.
Our team is made up of dedicated and long-standing members of staff, many of whom have been with us for several years. Clinically, we have four GP partners, five salaried GPs, and two clinical pharmacists, all committed to providing safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Our nursing team is made up of three experienced Practice Nurses and a Healthcare Assistant, supported by a strong management and administrative structure.
The practice management team includes a Practice Manager and an Office Manager, alongside a skilled and friendly admin team of eight, all working closely to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

24 to 30 hours per week
Main Duties
Chronic disease management including asthma, COPD, diabetes and cardiovascular disease

About You
Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
Previous experience working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice
Experience managing long-term conditions including asthma, COPD and diabetes
Competent in cervical cytology
Experience delivering childhood and adult immunisations
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Commitment to ongoing professional development
Desirable
Chronic disease management qualifications or experience including diabetes, asthma & COPD
Spirometry qualification and competency
Experience using SystmOne

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Registered Nurse with current NMC registration. Previous experience working as a Practice Nurse within General Practice. Experience managing long-term conditions including asthma, COPD and diabetes. Competent in cervical cytology. Experience delivering childhood and adult immunisations. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
Desirable
Qualifications in chronic disease management diabetes, COPD, asthma. Experience of working with System One.
