Job summary

Neuromodulation Team seeks an experienced an experienced RMN to practice in our developed ECT (Electro-convulsive Therapy) & TMS (Transcranial Magnetic stimulation) clinics based at the Kingsley Green site in Radlett. The candidate must be a dedicated, enthusiastic and genuine individual to join our dynamic nursing team as a band 6 nurse. Previous experience in a similar setting would be an advantage and a comprehensive knowledge of working with patients with mental, social and physical health conditions is essential. Good IT skills are essential to the role. You will work with dynamic team of professionals dedicated to the ECT & TMS service with updated knowledge, skills and experience in assessing, treating and monitoring patients with moderate to severe depressive illness and treatment resistant conditions. Both the ECT & TMS clinics will operate Monday to Friday at two sites Kingfisher Court ECT & TMS suites and Watford General Hospital Theatres.

The band 6 Neuromodulation Nurse will be required to work 5 x 07.30 -15.30 shifts Monday - Friday. The successful candidate will be offered ECT and TMS and recovery training.

Main duties of the job

The Neuromodulation Charge Nurse will work in close collaboration with the Lead Nurse in the clinical and operational management of the ECT and TMS service. Coordinate the delivery of the ECT and TMS assessments, treatments and monitoring. Work collaboratively with the referring and core MDT team, ensuring the service meets the quality and safety standard in accordance with national and local guidelines.

Demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process, including joint working with the Multi-Disciplinary Team to meet the needs of the patients and carers to ensure that they are working to HPFT Clinical Policies and Procedures/Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Practice and Standards.

Develop the necessary skills and experience to be able to work flexibly across all areas within the Neuromodulation service. Ensure the service is meeting accepted quality and safety standards in accordance with national and local guidelines, obtaining and maintaining ECT accreditation standards, and provide a consistent approach across the Trust.

Ensure safe clinical practice is maintained to Care Quality Commission standards at all times and in line with the NHS Constitution. Deliver effective and safe services which support the key elements of clinical/practice governance and focus on supporting the team to introduce ways of continuously improving service quality. Safeguard the high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence will flourish.
