Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for a Pathology Quality Officer, 12 Months Fixed Term Post. This role involves ensuring patient safety and maintenance of accreditation and conformance to regulatory bodies.

The post provides an opportunity to work within NWLP supporting the all laboratories across the North West London Pathology network.

As a Pathology Quality Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our quality management system, ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements, harmonisation of the quality management system across all North West London Pathology sites.

The successful applicant will be a strong team-player with experience and passion for quality within the pathology services. They will have good knowledge and understanding of UKAS accreditation ISO15189:2022 requirements and a good working knowledge of Ideagen (Q-Pulse).

A positive attitude to working in a flexible manner and a commitment to supporting the clinical services of our customer Trusts and meeting the needs of our patients is also required.

This is a fixed-term position until the end of June 2027, offering an exciting opportunity to contribute to our department's success and make a meaningful impact.

Main duties of the job

Maintain compliance with ISO15189: 2022 and Trust standards, identifying appropriate remedial and corrective action plans. Monitor compliance with other Pathology regulatory bodies relevant to the departments.Present information, participate in relevant meetings, and contributes to effective communication within the department.Assist laboratory staff with process mapping when preparing new procedures and the review of process mapping when procedures are reviewed.Support adherence to the NWLP Change Control policy and completion of Change Control documentation.Assist the lab management team in timely completion of actions which will lead to the local laboratory sites gaining and maintaining accreditation and conformance with National regulatory bodies.Perform audit as directed by the department audit schedules and Divisional Quality & Governance managers.Provide training for use of pathology quality management system software across all areas of Pathology. Monitoring progress and completion of all non-conformance issues within agreed timescales.Work with Divisional Quality & governance managers and Laboratory Managers to embed a culture of quality and ensure that all elements of the quality policy and quality manual are implemented within each laboratory.

About us

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.

Person Specification

EDUCATION Essential

IBMS Accredited BSc Biomedical Science degree Registration with the HCPC as a biomedical scientist Hold the IBMS Specialist Diploma or equivalent in a relevant discipline

SKILLS/ABILITIES Essential

Practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work. Competence in PC word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Ability to work under pressure Quick to learn and comprehend.

EXPERIENCE Essential

A good working knowledge of specialist subject in relevant discipline Evidence of continuing professional development Use of Pathology computer systems

Desirable

Previous experience in a large busy laboratory
