Job summary
Regal Chambers Surgery is looking for a friendly, organised and reliable Receptionist to join our busy and supportive team. This role is for 15 hours per week, working Thursdays and Fridays, with flexibility to work shifts between 7:45am and 6:45pm.
As the first point of contact for our patients, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, managing appointments, handling telephone enquiries, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice. Previous reception or customer service experience is desirable, although full training will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is professional, compassionate, able to work well under pressure and committed to delivering high standards of patient care.

Main duties of the job
Managing patient enquiries both in person and over the telephone, providing a professional and friendly first point of contact.Processing online consultation requests through AccuRx and supporting the practice's total triage model.Adding patient requests to the duty doctor workflow and contacting patients following clinical assessment to arrange appointments where required.Completing online consultation forms on behalf of patients who are unable to access or use online services.Processing prescription requests and assisting with medication-related enquiries.Registering new patients and maintaining accurate patient records.Signposting patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional or external service.Booking blood test appointments and completing the necessary request forms.Liaising with community services, hospitals and other healthcare providers to support patient care.Responding to general patient queries and providing administrative support to the wider practice team.Maintaining confidentiality and ensuring all work is completed in line with practice policies and NHS regulations.

Regal Chambers Surgery is a friendly, well-established GP practice in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, providing primary care services to approximately 12,500 registered patients.
The practice is led by eight GP Partners and supported by a multidisciplinary team including GPs, Minor Illness Nurses, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacists, reception staff and an experienced administrative team. Together, we deliver safe, effective and patient-centred care to our local community.
As a teaching and training practice, we host GP Registrars in their final year of training and undergraduate medical students from the University of Cambridge, promoting continuous learning and professional development.

As a GP Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.
