Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join the team at Hinchingbrooke Hospital as a Senior Medical Secretary.
You will provide an efficient, confidential and reliable service to the speciality team. This will include administrative and secretarial support to enable the provision of patient care and specialty services. Good communication and organisational skills are essential to provide a proficient service for the patients and clinicians.

Main duties of the job
Carry out a full range of secretarial and administrative duties to support the effective delivery of the service.
Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries, handling them with tact, discretion, and confidentiality; applying sound judgement and experience to assess each situation and respond appropriately.
Linemanagejunior team members, supporting their development and overseeing all related matters including appraisals, sickness absence, and annual leave, while ensuring tasks are appropriately delegated.
Undertake relevant training asrequiredto support service developments andmaintainprofessional competency.
Work flexibly across specialty teams as needed, including cross-siteworking.
Provide administrative support to outpatient clinics in line with the requirements of Consultants and the Administration Pathway Coordinator.
Work collaboratively with the Administration Pathway Coordinator, Service Manager, and Clinical Lead to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the service.

Person Specification
Education/Knowledge & Qualifications Essential
Educated to A level or equivalent. A good general education and good command of English. Knowledge of the Data Protection Act. Ability to maintain a clinical database system Knowledge of Microsoft systems
Experience Essential
Previous experience in the co-ordination/supervision in an administrative environment. Experience of working with the public / dealing with conflict
Desirable
Experience of NHS IT systems (ICE, pathology and local departmental systems). Co-ordination of a clinical department
Communication Essential
Excellent oral and written communication skills
