Band 7 - Highly Specialist Paediatric Dietitian - Metabolic MedicinePermanent (1 WTE - 37.5 hours) Interview date: early July 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent full time Band 7 metabolic dietitian post, within the dietetic and metabolic medicine team at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, NHS Foundation Trust.

Our centre is the largest paediatric metabolic medicine service in theUK and is the main provider for London (North of the Thames) and the surrounding counties. We also provide a national and international service. Our aim is to deliver efficient, high quality, multi-disciplinary care to children with complex metabolic disorders.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of 8 highly specialised metabolic dietitians who provide a clinical service to metabolic in and outpatients across the paediatric age range 0-16 years. We are looking for a dynamic dietitian with either metabolic dietetic experience or substantial general paediatric experience who wants to further develop their skills within the highly rewarding area of metabolic medicine.

Academic/Professional qualification/Training Essential

Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent post-graduate qualification Registered as a Dietitian with the Health and Care Professions Council

Desirable

Post graduate qualification such as MSc Advanced Professional Practice in Paediatric Dietetics - modules or equivalent

Experience/Knowledge/Working hours Essential

Post-registration experience working in general dietetics Significant experience of working in paediatric dietetics at band 6/7 level Knowledge of metabolic dietetics or a specialist area of dietetics Ability to provide weekend on-call service Ability to work until 18.00 most evenings

Skills/Abilities Essential

Ability to contribute to the development of dietetic practice Excellent written and oral presentation and communication skills Excellent computer literacy and the ability to use different programmes eg: Word, excel Good time management Ability to work as part of a team and MDT Ability to adapt to new ways of working which are beneficial to the service Experience in research/audit /teaching
