Hello I'm Dawn Boucher and am happy to share this brilliant job opportunity available to join our Low Secure Occupational Therapy team at BDCFT's Low Secure Inpatient Service - Moorlands View.Are you experienced working with males with complex needs and in a secure environment? Are you passionate about supporting recovery and rehabilitation? We have the opportunity to become a part of a small and supportive team as a band 6 Occupational Therapist. The role is clinical with some supervisory/ management duties such as facilitating clinical supervisions and attending delegated meetings as required. A high level of clinical knowledge is required to really thrive in this role.

Main duties of the job

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist ready to take the next step in your career and make a real impact in mental health? We are seeking a passionate Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in a low secure setting where recovery, hope and meaningful occupation are central to our work.

You will support individuals with complex mental health needs to rebuild skills, confidence and independence in preparation for community living. The role involves delivering high-quality, evidence-based OT interventions, completing functional assessments and developing personalised programmes that promote engagement, risk management and recovery.

You will also contribute to service development, support junior staff and students, and help shape OT practice within a secure environment. With a clear leadership structure, regular supervision and a collaborative MDT culture, you will be well supported to develop and innovate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an OT who is confident managing risk, enjoys structured environments and is motivated to make a meaningful difference to service users' lives.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Degree or equivalent pre-registration award in occupational therapy HCPC registration Short specialist course/s with relevance to specialist clinical area Professional practice educator training

Desirable

Mary Seacole or other leadership qualification Master level qualification

Experience Essential

Experience of working as an Occupational Therapist assessing the needs of service users with severe and enduring mental health needs. Clear supervisory experience Experience of working with a range of mental health issues with awareness of physical health challenges

Desirable

Experience of working in forensic services Experience working with individuals having neurodevelopmental disorders

Knowledge & Skills Essential

A comprehensive understanding of the roles, responsibilities and key functions of an Occupational Therapist Knowledge of recovery approaches Able to be an effective and respectful team player and to contribute responsibility to the service.
