Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Herne Bay Urgent Treatment Centre, for a Health Care Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team. This is a fantastic chance to work in a fast paced, patient focused environment when no two days are the same.
Main duties of the job
Checking treatment room cupboards daily and setting up the rooms for the day.
Imputing patient information and entering results of blood pressure, urinalysis etc onto the computer
Keep all cupboards and trolleys well stocked, clean and tidy.
Working alongside clinicians in the provision of patient care
Undertake and record a range of tasks which may include:
Height and weight Urinalysis Blood pressure, temperature and pulse Recording ECGAssisting with simple dressingsRecognise changes in patients observations, which must be reported and acted on.Assist clinicians in emergency management of patients.Act as a chaperoneProvide relevant health promotion literature for patients.Ordering equipment and unpacking deliveries

Job description Job responsibilities
To assist in initial assessment of patients by taking recordings of their vital signs as directed by practitioner. Including neuro observations, blood glucose monitoring and urinalysis.Recognise changes in patients observations and report accordingly.Offer reassurance to and remain with vulnerable patients whilst they are in the unitAssist practitioners in preparing patients for clinical assessment or treatment by for example removing dressings and cleaning wounds.Administer treatments as directed by nursing/paramedic staff e.g assisting with the application of dressings, having an awareness of oxygen therapy, application of plaster casts and splints.Assist trained staff with transferring patients e.g. from trolley to ambulance stretcherMake verbal reports to practitioners concerning their patients well being and behaviours.Undertake further training to extend skills as requiredTo act as a chaperone.To assist in the emergency management of patients e.g. performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Desirable
Able to monitor and record observations such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation's. EMIS user skills and sound IT skills Clinical skills such as basic wound care, urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring, ECG and plastering.
Qualifications Essential
Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
Desirable
Care Certificate NVQ Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care GCSE Mathematics & English (C or above)
