About this role

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a porter to join our team within Perioperative Medicine at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role will include working within all areas of Perioperative Medicine, this includes Surgical Admissions Unit, Main Theatres and Recovery, the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit and the Children's and Young People's Surgical Day Unit. The role will incorporate a 5 day working pattern Monday - Friday with shifts ranging between the hours of 8am and 9pm.

Main duties of the job

Main duties:

To be responsible for the transport of patients, and hospital equipment between the wards and departments. To assist in the provision of a high quality, courteous service to the patients, wards and departments of the Hospital. To maintain high standards of patient care. To liaise with nursing and clerical staff within the department in order to provide a seamless service. To maintain good and effective working relationships with other departments and service providers throughout the Trust.

Person Specification

Knowledge Essential

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to solve problems and use initiative to resolve routine queries

Qualifications Desirable

Attendance at Novice and leadership improvement sessions within first year of role Level 1 in Maths/English or equivalent demonstrable experience

Experience Essential

Ability to demonstrate person centred care Must have the ability to prioritise, work under pressure and work well as part of a team
