Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner in General Surgery, based at Furness General Hospital. The successful applicant will be required to complete the ACP course based at a local University at masters level.
The post holder will be required to travel between all three hospital sites within UHMB including at Kendal, Lancaster and Barrow-in-Furness.
The role blends direct, higher level clinical care with education, management activities with a focus on Governance and as such the post holder is expected to build working relationships across the local health community. The ability to initiate, sustain and evaluate change is essential.
Main duties of the job
The Trainee General Surgery ACP will work closely with the existing General Surgery team and a team of multi-disciplinary staff within the Surgical Division, including Consultants, and Specialist Nurses
To work at the level outlined in the HEE Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice (2017) with equal focus on all four pillars of advanced clinical practice: Clinical, Leadership/management, education, and research/audit (additional paragraph)
The successful candidate will be an expert nurse within general surgery; leading and developing practice in order to promote and provide high quality service throughout the patient pathway for patients and their families.
Provide and facilitate the delivery of highly specialised care for patients.Be responsible for providing expert practice through leadership, consultation, clinical advice, teaching and support for staff.
Service development will be an integral part of the post going forward.
About us
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
