Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to recruit a Band 7 Team Manager to cover a 12 month period of maternity leave for the York Assertive Outreach Team.

'Assertive outreach works with individuals who experience severe and enduring mental illness, namely psychosis with possible co morbidities of substance use. Individuals on caseload experience high levels of social, economical, emotional and psychological stress which can contribute to their difficulties engaging with the team. Individuals have difficulties engaging, building relationships with services and require more intensive and assertive community care and treatment'

This is an exciting time to join a well-established team at a point of ongoing national developments.

Secondments would be considered but would need their current line managers agreement that they could be released on a secondment basis.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role.Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate with the support of the wider leadership team will improve the lives of people with mental ill health through effective leadership, management and service development to enable the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and well-being for all service users.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent mental health services and can support and enable the team to achieve their potential. Key responsibilities will include supervision and appraisal for the staff team, performance monitoring including key performance indicators, recruitment and management of staff, ensuring that people have timely access to our services and receive treatment in line with the teams pathways. You will need to have excellent relationship building and engagement skills and be capable of managing varied work demands based on the changing needs of the service. You will understand and embrace the challenge of delivering a service which is both high in quality, efficiency and sustainability.

Although the main duties of the role are to ensure the operational effectiveness of the team, you will still have the opportunity to involve yourself in direct clinical work, in line with the needs of the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Post Graduate Diploma in leadership or a subject area relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within the first 2 years Hold a relevant degree (or degree equivalent) and have equivalent experience to that of Post Graduate Diploma level such as significant experience of working as a band 6 ( or equivalent Band 6 or above) experience as outlined below

Experience Essential

Significant experience of operational management (including leading and managing people, performance and service development) Working collaboratively with others (external partners, staff service users and their families/carers) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development Evidence of delivering management supervision Developing, maintaining and auditing standards of practice Evidence of training in Quality Improvement methodology or coaching, and/or using. Inter-agency and partnership working

Knowledge Essential

Working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and other relevant legislation Experience of working within a range of services, including inpatient and/or community settings. Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Demonstrates effective Leadership and Management of a Team Demonstrate effective communication, organisational and administrative skills
