Job summary
We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Bank Support Worker to work within our Sussex Family Eating Disorder Service.
To provide physical health care monitoring and support for children and young people referred with an eating disorder as part of a multi-agency approach to meeting the health and social care needs of children and young people who use our services. Comprehensive training for this role is provided combined with ongoing support and mentorship.
It is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, multi professional work environment consisting of occupational therapy, nursing, psychology, dietician, support workers and medics to support evidence-based care for young people and their families.
Main duties of the job
Promote health and safety maintaining best practice in health, safety and security.
Physical health monitoring and support eg weight and height, blood pressure.
Work with the MDT to ensure young people receive quality care and intervention.
Share ideas with colleagues to improve care and suggest areas for innovation.
Adhere to legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines both local and national regularly attend workplace and staff engagement meetings and contribute positively to discussions about the improvement of care.
To support our Duty & Triage teams with reviewing of referrals and obtaining additional information in relation to these, and responding to calls/ queries from parents, young people and carers/ other service providers
Reviewing and updating risk assessments and care plans for those open to the service, as well as reviewing progress with treatment and updating records in a timely manner.

To be a successful Support Worker within the Sussex Family Eating Disorder Service it is desirable although not essential that you have:
Experience of working with children and young people
Experience of working with Eating Disorders
Experience of working in mental health services
Care Certificate or any health or social care qualifications or experiences relevant to this post
You must be able to demonstrate a caring, compassionate and non-judgmental attitude, and show a commitment to making a difference when supporting young people and their families on their recovery journeys. Be able to well in a fast paces, pressured environment with a number of conflicting demands

Criteria Essential
Experience working with children and young people Experience of analysing and communicating complex information verbally and in writing Able to establish and maintain empathic, supportive relationships with young people/families/carers in significant distress or who are cognitively impaired, as well as their families and carers. Able to receive, understand and communicate confidential client information of a sensitive and often complex nature, including discussing care with family members/carers within boundaries of confidentiality. Able to communicate in a sensitive and reassuring manner, with empathy, and where appropriate reassurance. Able to deal with a range of young people presenting with mental health difficulties, their supporters and the clinical team on a daily basis.
Desirable
Emotional first aid or other emotional well-being basic training or understanding Experience of working with children and young people with mental health needs in a paid or voluntary capacity Liaise with other teams and services including external agencies as required for the wellbeing of service users. Able to contribute to risk assessments, drawing on complex and multiple sources of information, once trained and under clinical supervision Able to deal directly with distressing or emotional circumstances when they arise.
