Job summary ABOUT THE ROLE As a Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you'll make sure we have a clean and well-maintained environment so that residents feel at home and staff can do their jobs well. Creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere is part of our commitment to delivering first-class care and support. You can expect plenty of variety as a Head of Maintenance with us. You'll turn your hand to all sorts of tasks within the care home building as well as in the gardens and grounds. That could mean fixing a leaky tap one minute and planting some new bulbs the next. You should be comfortable working alone, leading a team and supporting the General Manager with annual budget planning. We'll also need you to liaise with contractors on jobs that fall outside the expertise of your team. Main duties of the job As a Head of Maintenance at a Barchester care home, you'll ensure a clean and well-maintained environment for residents and staff. Your role includes managing diverse tasks within the care home and its grounds, such as repairing and gardening. Comfort with working independently, team leadership, and budget planning support for the General Manager are essential. Liaising with contractors on specialized tasks is also part of the job. Prior hands-on maintenance experience and at least one trade skill are required. Ideally, you should be capable of a wide range of maintenance activities. Additionally, reliability, flexibility in working hours, a full UK driving licence, IT literacy, and GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) are important for this role.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Hands-on experience in property maintenance with at least one trade skill, full UK driving license, IT literacy, and GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent).
