The Opportunity: ControllerWe are looking for an experienced Controller to join our Finance team and support our portfolio companies in the Netherlands. Reporting to the Portfolio Finance Director, you will act as a true finance business partner to the Managing Director and leadership team while owning all finance, accounting, compliance, and reporting activities. This is a hands-on leadership role offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to drive operational and financial improvements across a growing software portfolio.

What You'll OwnFinancial Leadership & Business Partnering
Partner with the Managing Director and functional leaders to support commercial and operational decision-makingTranslate financial results into actionable insights, identifying trends, risks, and opportunitiesBuild and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts, budgets, and KPI reportingSupport strategic initiatives including pricing reviews, customer retention, cost optimization, and acquisitionsDevelop KPI dashboards and variance analyses that drive accountability across the leadership team
Financial Accounting, Reporting & Compliance
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processPrepare accurate and timely financial reports under Dutch GAAP and support Group reporting under IFRSManage all Dutch statutory compliance requirements, including VAT (BTW), corporate income tax filings, CBS reporting, and annual auditsEnsure effective internal controls, compliance with corporate policies, and regulatory requirementsOversee working capital management, cash flow forecasting, invoicing processes, and debt collection activities
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance teamDrive process improvements across accounting, reporting, and financial operationsSupport NetSuite implementation and optimization initiatives where applicableIdentify automation opportunities and lead implementation of improved financial systems and processesAssist with integrations and special projects across the portfolio
Who You AreBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related fieldMinimum 7 years of experience in accounting or finance rolesPrevious people management experienceStrong knowledge of Dutch GAAP, IFRS, Dutch tax compliance, and statutory audit requirementsProven ability to operate as a strategic finance business partner while remaining hands-onExcellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skillsStrong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levelsAdvanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suiteFluent in Dutch and English, both written and verbal
Strongly Preferred
RA, RC, AA, CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualificationExperience with Oracle NetSuite or similar ERP systemsPrevious experience in a software, technology, or private-equity-backed business environmentExperience supporting M&A integrations and transformation initiatives
