Job SummaryThis position is located in the Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant (PHRP), under the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), and Facilities Operations and Services Division (FOSD), Facilities Operations Group (FOG), Heating & Refrigeration Plant (HRP). Scheduled to open for 14 calendar days.
QualificationsIn order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. PHYSICAL EFFORTS: Moderately heavy physical effort is exerted while working aloft on poles, at ground level, and in ground trenches, or manholes; requiring bending, stooping, climbing, and standing for long periods. Coordination of eyes, hands, legs, and body are needed in repairing, installing, and testing electrical equipment in confined areas such as manholes and overhead structures. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is normally performed outside, both above and below ground in close proximity to high voltage lines and equipment. There is a hazard from exposure to high noise levels, high voltages, electrical shocks and burns, and of cuts and bruises from hand and power tools. Subject to extremes of temperature and high humidity when working in air intake and exhaust chambers, outdoor weather conditions, and from working around operating equipment. Subject to serious injury by contact with high voltage lines, or falls from poles, ladders; and less serious cuts and bruises when handling tools and materials. You may qualify at the WG-11, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the WG-10 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Uses block and tackle, hoists, winches, or other lifting and pulling equipment as necessary, and directs assisting helpers. Installs, modifies, and replaces generation and distribution equipment in substations power generating facilities. Applies a high level of skill in the diagnosis and repair of electrical faults. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
