Job SummaryThis AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC position, is located in an Air National Guard Aviation Wing, Maintenance Group, Maintenance Squadron, Propulsion Element,(Jet Engine Intermediated Maintenance (JEIM) and the Hush House and is part of the CA 146 AW.
QualificationsGeneral Experience: Possess experience, education, or training which provides the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements; Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10: Must have at least 18 months experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories; Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft engines, engine components, and power trains for fixed and/or rotary wing aircraft; Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical records, and diagnosis. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies: Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Related to Mobile Equipment Operation) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc. Troubleshooting
Major DutiesTHIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION. The primary purpose of the AIRCRAFT ENGINE MECHANIC, WG-8602-10, is to maintain, troubleshoot, remove, repair, install, certify, test and perform operational checks on the turboprop engines, propellers, and associated propulsion system components. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.RequirementsCALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. (Applicants who are currently in other Air/Army branches and NOT currently a member of the California National Guard (CNG) must become a member of a compatible unit of assignment within the Air Force CNG commensurate with the military grade listed in this announcement prior to federal assignment). Military Grades: E-4 through E-6 Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized. PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest. Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives.
