QualificationsTo qualify for the position of Information Receptionist (Office Automation), at GS-0304-4, you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below. GS-4: To be eligible at the GS-4 level, you must meet at least ONE of the following conditions, as defined below: General Experience, Education, OR a combination of Education and Experience. General Experience: One full year of general experience equivalent to the GS-4 level. General Experience is defined as experience performing various clerical/administrative duties in support of the operation of an office. Examples of general experience include: receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office; responding to inquiries and providing general information; utilizing word processing applications and other software to input, organize, share, and access information Education: Successfully completed two years of education above the high school level. Combination Experience and Education Successfully completed education above the high school level and general experience may be combined to meet the qualification requirements at the GS-04 grade level. To determine if you qualify based on a combination of education and experience, first determine your education as a percentage (e.g., 30 semester hours divided by 60 equals 50%); then determine your experience as a percentage (e.g., 6 months general experience divided by 12 equals 50%); finally, add the two percentages and if the total equals 100% or more, you qualify (e.g., 50% + 50% = 100%). To be qualified, you must type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. (A typing test may later be required.) You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including time-in-grade, by the 06/22/2026 of this announcement. Major DutiesIf selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team serving as a Information Receptionist in the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Texas. Typical work assignments will include, but are not limited to: -Receiving incoming telephone calls and visitors entering the office to provide necessary information and establish contacts with appropriate departments. -Responding to internal and external inquiries, providing general information regarding office programs. -Receiving, reviewing, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail. -Coordinating with office staff to ensure coverage of daily operations. -Monitoring and maintaining miscellaneous data files. -Maintaining adequate levels of mailing and shipping supplies. -Assisting with other administrative functions as assigned by the supervisor. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
