Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Social Worker (Mental Health Consultation): Degree: Master's degree (or higher degree) in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: conducting mental health assessments, providing individual and group treatment, and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Major DutiesScreens, assesses patients, and performs PCMH model appropriate biopsychosocial evaluations.Conducts brief assessments and formulates evidence-based interventions appropriate to a primary care setting for a wide range of mental health conditions, chronic medical conditions, and health behaviors affecting medical conditions.Assists with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans with Primary Care Managers (PCMs) and other primary care team members.Provides ongoing consultation services for a subset of patients who would benefit from periodic, regular mental health monitoring and intervention for sustaining improvement and preventing relapse.Develops, teaches, and provides oversight for classes that promote education and skill-building to enhance psychological and physical health, and promote mental change related to improved health status.
