Job SummaryThis position is part of the WAPA-RMR-Rocky Mountain Region or the WAPA-SNR-Sierra Nevada Region. As a Field Maintenance Manager, you will be you will serve over the electric substation facilities and transmission lines in a Western Area Power Administration Region, Maintenance Office. The incumbent will mange the full lifecycle of a power infrastructure by directing the maintenance, coordination, construction, and advising on upkeep.

QualificationsSPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-12 in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Knowledge of and ability to manage operational and maintenance programs related to high voltage electric power systems. Ability to manage, provide advice, counsel or instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters. Ability to oversee and perform project management planning or budgeting duties (i.e. developing plans/schedules, estimating resource requirements, monitoring and/or reporting on project activities or accomplishments, developing project budget). "Experience" refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Limit your resume to no more than two (2) pages. Working Conditions: The work area is usually an office setting that is adequately lit, heated, and ventilated. The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts that require normal safety precautions. The employee may occasionally be exposed to uncomfortable conditions in maintenance, transmission, substation facilities, or varying temperatures and climate when visiting outdoor locations related to the transmission mission. Physical Effort: The work is mainly sedentary, but may require some walking in offices, production areas, utility plants, facilities, and work areas. Some employees may carry light items such as briefcases, notebooks, work papers, and test equipment or drive a motor vehicle. The work does not require any special physical effort or ability.

Major DutiesAs a Field Maintenance Manager, you will: First line supervisor that plans the work to be accomplished and establishes production or quality standards. Formulates and executes the communication sites, substations and/or transmission lines program and budget for area field locations, states, and geographic area. Plans, directs, develops and executes the long- range preventive maintenance program. Works with the Division Maintenance Manager to design modifications, replacements and additions changing power system substations, high voltage transmission lines and other related facilities. Formulates the budget for high voltage transmission lines and substation facilities incorporating the latest industry techniques, practices and procedures Manages and oversees equipment planning; approves changes; requirements, sources, quantities. Prioritizes and oversees procurement and/or manages related contracts.RequirementsMust be a U.S. Citizen or National. This employer participates in the e-Verify program.
