The incumbent provides executive level administrative and secretarial services to the supervisor and provides direction to subordinate clerical and administrative staff.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days the closing date of this announcement, 06/17/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-7 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. For a GS-8 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: With significant oversight, knowledge of the goals, priorities, policies, and commitments of the supervisor to perform such tasks as assembling information to be used for reports or responses to inquires and to compose correspondence not requiring technical knowledge; knowledge of and ability to utilize a personal computer with a wide variety of hardware and software; knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and required formats; knowledge of timekeeping procedures, ability to make travel arrangements and prepare necessary documents. Major DutiesDuties include, but are not limited to: Serve as the initial point of contact for the AD/PCS. Independently schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and makes commitments for the AD/PCS to attend meetings, conferences, etc., without prior approval. Acts as liaison for AD and nurse mangers/supervisors. Provides general clerical public contact support services such as answering the telephone, referring visitors, or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, as well as similar information. Screens calls and personally answers calls when the requested information concerns routine and procedural requirements. Process incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other forms of written communication. Perform the following types of duties: edits letters, composes letters and reports, reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Provide general clerical mail and correspondence services such as preparing a variety of recurring reports, reviewing outgoing correspondence for proper attachments or consolidating/coordinating submittals of information. Research files and assembles background information on the subject of incoming material prior to referral. Compile required records and paperwork, i.e., VetPro printout, worksheets, etc, necessary to conduct a Board review. Responsible for tracking all PCS/NHCU/FIT facility and internal policies to include meeting required review deadlines, working with CA/PCS and nurse managers to ensure policies are updated appropriately and in a timely manner. Perform other administrative duties as assigned. Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
