QualificationsSpecialized Experience Statement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-09 level in the Federal service or private sector, performing digital asset management work within a digital asset management system (DAMS). Qualifying experience must demonstrate responsibility for digital asset workflows including creating, uploading, organizing, tagging, and delivering digital assets; applying metadata using institutional standards and controlled vocabularies; responding to internal and external asset requests; troubleshooting issues; and supporting DAMS users and infrastructure. Major DutiesThe Digital Content Strategy and Experience Division brings the art, stories and mission of the National Gallery of Art to life online, helping to expand access, deepen engagement, and build emotional connection. The Digital Asset Specialist will help to ensure the museum's digital asset collections are organized, accessible, and ready to support a wide range of projects across the institution. Working as part of a collaborative team, this role assists with the processing and management of digital assets, supports staff using the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system, and contributes to the ongoing development of DAM workflows and infrastructure through optimization and automation to meet evolving institutional needs. Duties for this position include: Ingests, catalogs and distributes digital assets for museum staff and collaborator access. Applies administrative, descriptive, structural, and technical metadata to digital assets according to institutional standards. Performs original descriptive cataloging and keyword tagging of digital assets Conducts asset discovery and delivery of digital assets to internal and external requesters Contributes to the development and application of new workflows to accommodate evolving institutional DAM needs Provides training and general user support to staff with questions or issues related to digital asset management. Conducts routine troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve issues. Participates in testing to evaluate system integrations, upgrades, and patches. Applies high-quality digital imaging standards to review and process incoming digital assets. Perform pre-cataloging duties including quality assurance, formatting, and file naming.
