About this role
Oversees the administration and project management of the institution's construction and renovation projects. Schedule: Monday-Friday from 7:45am-4:15pm
• Manages and coordinates the project construction process. • Ensures completion within established schedule, budgetary limits and in accordance with design specifications and regulatory codes. • Maintains familiarity with design, engineering, scope, and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member. • Coordinates activities of the design and construction project teams. • Conducts project meetings and maintains project tracking and analysis. • Analyzes, compares, and evaluates various courses of action and makes independent decisions on matters of significance. • Coordinates project level communication to stakeholders, contractors, trade shop leaders, campus departments and institutional leadership. • Performs project closeout duties and interfaces with enterprise software system for project management. • Experience managing procurement activities, including development of bid packages, contractor/vendor selection, evaluation of proposals, contract administration, and compliance with institutional procurement policies and applicable regulations. • Knowledge of competitive bidding processes, public-sector or institutional procurement requirements, and best practices for maintaining transparency, fairness, and fiscal stewardship throughout the procurement lifecycle. • Proven ability to manage multiple construction contracts and procurement packages simultaneously while maintaining schedule, budget, and quality objectives. • Performs all other duties as assigned.
• Proven knowledge in design, construction administration, and/or construction project management. • Ability to lead in a team environment. • Experience with Microsoft Project or a similar scheduling system is preferred. • Ability to be hands-on and balance time between management activities within the office and on the jobsite. EDUCATION:
• Bachelor's Degree degree in Construction Management or related field is required. • Certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is not required but preferred. PREFERRED:
• Experience managing renovation, modernization, and tenant improvement projects in occupied facilities, with the ability to minimize disruptions to ongoing operations. • Experience overseeing renovations in research, laboratory, healthcare, higher education, or other technically complex environments is preferred. This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
