Job SummaryThe position is located in the General Services Division of the Office of the Executive Director in the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA/EX/GSD). CA/EX is responsible for providing a wide range of management support for the Bureau of Consular Affairs, including infrastructure, human resources, travel, and controlled consular supplies.
QualificationsApplicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience communicating travel policy changes and updates. Experience developing and providing travel management statistics, background information, and other related data to senior leadership. Experience monitoring and auditing travel claims in an automated travel system. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-12 position.
Major DutiesExamines new or proposed travel policies, procedures, regulations, and legislation and assesses impact to the Bureau's travel program, recommending appropriate courses of action for use by GSD leadership in making informed travel policy decisions.Assesses the impact, capabilities, and limitations of the automated systems and procedures and develops creative solutions and workarounds to limitations in travel systems programming in unusual situations as warranted.Assumes responsibility for all administrative and financial tasks related to the travel card to include policy development, issuance, card utilization, billing, and termination.Gathers, evaluates and develops reports on official trips and travel costs; oversees preparation of travel authorizations, requirements for government credit cards, and travel vouchers.Prepares briefing materials for senior management on all travel regulations, policy, and procedures. Reviews Travel Object reports using E 2 Solutions to identify and correct recurring errors based on data analysis.
