Job SummaryThe Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Finance office, Office of Museum Operations, National Museum of American History (NMAH), Under Secretary for Museums and Culture, Smithsonian Institution (SI).

QualificationsExperience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as : Analyzing and evaluating continual changes in program plans and funding and their effect on financial and budget program milestones; providing statistical analysis to support budget projections; analyzing financial and budget relationships to develop recommendations for financial and/or budgetary actions. Your resume must be no more than two (2) pages and should clearly demonstrate how your experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for this position. Major DutiesThe primary purpose of the position is to perform a wide variety of administrative, analytical, and technical duties connected with the formulation, justification, and execution of NMAH's budgets. The position performs budget administration duties for Federal funds, including Salaries and Expenses, as well as various Trust funds established as endowments, gifts, grants, and contracts. In this position, you: Participate with the Finance Director in developing internal guidelines for budget formulation, presentation, and execution. Prepare budget estimates for senior staff and program directors for various budgets and respond to budget calls from central administration. Compile and coordinate presentation materials for assigned budget areas. Analyze and evaluate the effects of program plans and budget issues. Perform analyses of personnel and funding data, including staffing and financial patterns, to support effective management of NMAH. Supervise technical and administrative staff.RequirementsConditions of Employment Qualification requirements, including one year time-in-grade at the next lower grade level for promotion candidates, must be met within 30 days of the job announcement closing date.
