We build the mobile payment journeys that users rely on every day from checkout and stored payment methods to transaction reliability and security. Our work directly impacts conversion, user confidence, and platform growth across multiple products and markets.
Get to know the Role:
We are looking for a strong Android engineer to help shape the future of payments on Grab. This is a role for someone who cares deeply about product quality, technical craft, and building systems that perform reliably at scale.
You will work on highly visible, business-critical flows used by millions of users across Southeast Asia. You'll partner closely with product, design, backend, risk, and platform teams to build intuitive payment experiences that are fast, secure.

The Day-to-Day Activities:
Design, build, and maintain Android features powering Grab's payment experienceDeliver high-quality, scalable, and resilient mobile solutions for critical user journeysImprove app performance, reliability, observability, and engineering quality in payment flowsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product goals into robust technical solutionsContribute to architecture, technical design, code reviews, and engineering standardsTroubleshoot production issues and help drive operational excellenceUse data and experimentation to improve customer experience and business outcomesImprove code quality, maintainability, and developer productivity within the team What Essential Skills You Will Need
Strong software engineering fundamentals with solid 5+ years experience building Android applications in productionProficiency in Kotlin and a strong understanding of modern Android developmentExperience building maintainable mobile architectures and shipping user-facing features at scaleGood understanding of performance, reliability, testing, debugging, and release best practices on AndroidExperience integrating with backend services and handling complex client-server interactionsBreak down ambiguous problems and deliver pragmatic, high-quality solutionsStrong collaboration in a cross-functional environmentA product mindset and a high standard for user experienceExperience working on payments, fintech, checkout, authentication, or other high-trust product areasFamiliarity with Android architecture components, Coroutines, Jetpack, and modern development toolingExperience with experimentation, instrumentation, and data-informed product developmentKnowledge of secure coding and mobile application security practicesExperience working in large-scale consumer technology environments Life at Grab
