Rycroft Primary Care Centre has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive clinical team for 4 sessions per week, commencing in August 2026.This post has been created as part of the NHS GP Employment Reimbursement Scheme and offers an excellent opportunity to join a well-established GP training practice serving approximately 8,600 patients across our two sites at Rycroft Primary Care Centre and South Hiendley Surgery.The post is initially offered as a fixed-term contract until 31 March 2027. Subject to continuation of NHS reimbursement funding, practice requirements and mutual agreement, there may be an opportunity for the role to be extended and potentially become a permanent position.We are seeking a dedicated clinician who is committed to delivering high-quality patient care and who will thrive within a supportive multidisciplinary team environment. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced GPs.The successful candidate will work alongside GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Practice Nurses, GP Registrars and Medical Students. The post-holder will undertake all duties associated with a Salaried GP working within primary care, including surgery consultations, telephone and video consultations, clinical administration, reviewing results, managing correspondence and participating in Duty Doctor responsibilities as required.

The successful candidate will also have opportunities to become involved in teaching, training, quality improvement projects and the development of any special clinical interests.

Rycroft Primary Care Centre is part of White Rose Surgery and Wakefield Health Alliance South Primary Care Network. We provide care for approximately 8,600 patients across our purpose-built premises at Rycroft Primary Care Centre and South Hiendley Surgery.

We are a well-established GP Training Practice with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality patient care, clinical education and workforce development. We host GP Registrars, Leeds Medical Students and trainee nurses and actively support teaching and professional development.

Our multidisciplinary team includes GP Partners, Salaried GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Nursing Staff and Care Navigation Teams. We operate using SystmOne and hold regular clinical and educational meetings to support collaborative working, quality improvement and staff wellbeing.

Job summary:

The post-holder will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.

Clinical responsibilities:

In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing off repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisationAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessDeveloping care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocolsProviding counselling and health educationAdmitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriateRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standardsCollecting data for audit purposesCompiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptionsPrescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.Other responsibilities within the organisation:
