The Production Controller will provide direct Production Control support to the Production team to drive schedule performance. They will provide a look ahead to the upcoming work scope, and track completion of work. They will ensure all material is onsite to achieve schedule and monitor the amount of work in progress and late items. They will work with cross functional departments to drive results and resolve roadblocks.

• Each Production Controller is assigned a group of Supervisors that are responsible to provide work to support their crew and drive the schedule. • Issue Job Packages to Production by accepting within AVEVA and submitting the Print request to Document Control. • Order the material to support the Job Packages in Production working directly with the warehouse to meet scheduled material delivery dates. Includes managing, splitting, and modifying material lists (DRL’s) to ensure Production is only receiving what they can install. • Create Plan of the Weeks for Supervisor to ensure they have the right work at the right time. Working directly with Area Managers and the Supervisors. Release the correct job packages within AVEVA. • Verify material availability and escalate with Supply Chain on priority material requirements. • Manage suspended job packages to ensure work is continued when issues are resolved. • Daily Production shopfloor walks to monitor work progression, material consumption, and upcoming available scope. • Process deferred work between major stages of construction by pulling material & job package information, and holding the unit handover meeting. • Create & host Pre-Build reviews and After Build Reviews to ensure the lessons learned are captured in the following ships. • Ensure subcontractor job pack closures adhere to schedule and close within AVEVA. • Participate and/or hold cross functional meetings with Production, Planning, Engineering, Subcontractors, Supply Chain, and the customer.

• Recognized Diploma in technical discipline (Engineering, Trade, Engineering Technology/Technician or similar) or equivalent industry experience. • 2-5 years of planning or trade work experience, preferably in a naval shipbuilding or repair environment. • Strong knowledge of MS Office. • Knowledge of planning, scheduling, continuous improvement, change management. • Basic knowledge of safety practices in production environment. • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and develop sustainable solutions using critical thinking. • Ability to manage conflicts in a fast-paced environment. • Experience with data analysis & capture, process & quality management, manufacturing & construction fundamentals.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
