About this role
Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Director of Earned Media and External Communications leads proactive, opportunity-driven storytelling to advance Ithaca College’s reputation across traditional, digital, and emerging media. Serving as the primary media contact, this role builds relationships with journalists, creators, and influencers; pitches stories and institutional expertise; and elevates faculty, students, alumni, and leadership as compelling voices. The director monitors media and online discourse to identify opportunities and risks, collaborates across Marketing Communications to align messaging and distribution, and produces high-quality materials with strong editorial judgment and attention to detail. The role also provides support on crisis, internal, and leadership communications, contributing to coordinated, accurate, and high-impact messaging across the institution.
