An M2 Linux Systems Engineering Manager focuses primarily on administrative responsibilities to ensure the effective management and development of the Linux engineering team while collaborating across the IT organization. This includes assigning tasks and projects, balancing workloads, and monitoring progress to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met. The manager is responsible for responding to audits and data calls, ensuring compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements, and maintaining accurate documentation to support reporting and compliance needs. They mentor and develop team members through regular performance reviews, training opportunities, and career progression support. Additionally, the manager works in concert with other teams within Enterprise Operations and IT as a whole to drive capacity planning, create strategic roadmaps for future infrastructure needs, and establish or refine policies and procedures. By coordinating efforts across teams and maintaining a focus on resource planning and team development, they ensure the Linux team contributes to a cohesive, high-performing IT environment.
