About this role
• To assist during induction, maintenance of anaesthesia during surgery and recovery from
anaesthesia post surgery.
• Checks anesthesia machine every morning prior to surgery to ensure that the gas scavenging system is attached and the suction apparatus is attached and functioning.
• To provide assistance to anesthetist in assembling equipment and supplies for the administration of anesthesia.
• To perform cleaning of equipment and storing of supplies and to clean anesthesia work spaces and storage areas, before and after surgery.
• Incumbent works with a wide variety of equipment peculiar to administration of anesthesia, patient monitoring and related life support systems and must be familiar with intravenous fluids plus and blood administration system.
• Understands sequence of procedures required for rapid induction and intubation used in emergency cases to prevent vomiting and aspiration.
• Positions patients for surgery and those requiring spinal or epidural anesthesia with awareness of requirement of a sterile and sterile technique for the procedure.
• Learn and keep current with the name of equipment, supplies and pharmacological agents and is familiar with locations of same.
• Assists anesthetists with starting I.V. infusion.
• Share “on call” rotation to provide assistance for emergency surgeries during other than normal hours, i.e. nights, weekends and holidays.
• Maintains awareness of safety hazards and takes necessary action to prevent accidents.
• Attends staff meeting as and when required on a regular basis.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records and activities in the O R.
• Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned by Unit Supervisor/Charge Nurse/or other Anesthetist.
• Participate in any performance improvement activities and scheduled continuing nursing education and updating.
• Participate in conferences or training to update or share knowledge of new techniques in Anaesthesia.
• Maintains current knowledge of operation procedures and maintenance of new equipment.

• Anesthesia Technician program with minimum 4 years course duration from nationally recognized institution/college.
• Minimum 3 years experience after qualification and registration/license to practice.
• Currently licensed in country of origin and with DOH license to practice in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
• Fluent in spoken & written English, Arabic language is desirable, but not essential.
