Objective of the Job Perform safety equipment inspections and support fire/life-safety system testing while providing on-site first responder and safety investigation assistance. Duties and Responsibilities Safety Equipment Inspections: Complete and document Inspect-Track inspections for AEDs, extinguishers and other assigned equipment. Fire/Life-Safety Systems: Support inspection/testing for fire water, alarms/detection, and suppression systems within authorized scope; document results. Deficiency Closeout: Document deficiencies, initiate work requests, support repairs, and verify restoration-to-service. Impairment Support: Assist with impairment/restoration controls including tagging, communications, and compensatory measures as directed. Records/Vendors: Maintain audit-ready records and vendor service documentation; coordinate access and collect service reports. Readiness: Maintain readiness of assigned response equipment and supplies; report defects/expirations/shortages. First Responder Assistance: Provide CPR/AED/first aid within training and follow escalation/EMS activation protocols. Incipient-Stage Fire Support Only: Support incipient-stage fire response with extinguishers and 1.5-inch hose where applicable until professional responders arrive (Ensure o interior firefighting; no SCBA). Training/Drills: Participate in required training, drills, and readiness checks; maintain required qualifications. Assist Team with Investigations, response, and any additional duties needed within the department. Support severe weather actions as assigned, including monitoring Perry Weather alerts, storm spotting, and executing notification/shelter steps per procedure. Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications 1) High school diploma/GED required; technical training or certification preferred. 2) 2+ years experience in safety inspections, fire protection systems, industrial maintenance, or emergency response preferred. 3) CPR/AED/First Aid required or ability to obtain; EMR or EMT-B preferred. 4) Strong documentation discipline and ability to use tracking systems (Inspect-Track or equivalent). 5) Mechanical aptitude; able to use basic tools/test equipment as assigned. 6) Valid driver's license; able to access industrial areas and wear required PPE. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Work occurs in office and active industrial environments. Must be able to walk long distances, climb stairs/ladders, and wear required PPE. May require bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling during inspections, drills, and incident response. Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lbs routinely (more with assistance). Will require after-hours response during emergencies or severe weather events. Increased coordination duties and event response expectations. Schdeule is subject to change depending on needs of department and company, including afterhours and weekends. Shared Department weekend coverage will be included in requirements as increased safety and response knowledge grows. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not supervise employees.
