About this role
The College Protestant Kpalime in Togo has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Teacher and Trainer for Visually Impaired Education. In Togo, despite a relatively large number of visually impaired population, there is still very little awareness about visually impaired culture and extremely high levels of stigmatization. Only a few schools accept visually impaired students and the College Protestant is one of the education institutions to implement activities for those students to sustain their education and is open to all students in the community. The PCRV will collaborate with teachers at the College Protestant Kpalime to improve visually impaired education interventions by empowering teachers to be more inclusive as they have visually impaired students in their classes and training them on new effective methods to handle their classes with such students. The PCRV will also organize optional sessions for teachers in visually impaired literacy.
