E-Learning Specialist
Project Description: Professionals who excel in opportunities where education and technology meet are requested in Malawi to share their skills.
Limited information and communication technology skills along with inadequate infrastructure and high internet costs have made the adoption of e-learning challenging for many tertiary schools and organizations in Malawi. Staff require training on digital tools and platforms before they can support tertiary scholars, and training programs are needed to build those foundational skills.
As an E-Learning Specialist, you will collaborate with local staff to develop and implement an effective model of systemic e-learning while building local capacities in digital skills.
Required Skills: Competitive candidates will have one or more of the following criteria:
Bachelor of Arts in Education technology or other relevant field OR 2 or more years of relevant digital/e-learning experience, such as using ICT to support learning, online instruction or experience developing digital learning resources
Living Conditions: The Volunteer will live either in the central or southern region of Malawi. The Volunteer will live independently in a house within 6 miles of the office.
Activities: Provide structured, beginner-friendly training for individuals with little to no computer experience. Design engaging and interactive digital learning experiences. Train staff on digital platforms, such as data collection and management tools. Foster the integration of digital tools into lesson planning, delivery, and assessment. Conduct monthly physical check-ins to provide hands-on guidance or troubleshoot. Incorporate feedback to refine and enhance e-learning materials.
You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as wildlife clubs and malaria education boot camps.
Training: After a 2-week orientation on topics such as health and safety, you will move to an urban community where you will collaborate with staff at tertiary institutions or local health-focused organizations to assess the local needs and develop a work plan in line with their established goals.
Peace Corps/Malawi will equip you with Chichewa language resources and you may work with a local tutor who can help you build basic language skills to connect with the community.
