English proficiency is increasingly vital for educational, employment, and global opportunities. With nearly one-third of Mongolia’s population under the age of 35, the country’s future economic and social progress depends on preparing this generation to compete and collaborate on an international scale. Mongolia’s commitment to preparing its youth for global opportunities is reflected in making English language learning a national priority. Mongolian English teachers’ language skills have not kept up with demand, and most English classes are still being conducted in Mongolian. The Ministry of Education has requested additional support for youth development through clubs and extracurricular activities. There is a need to strengthen students’ English skills; however, it is equally important to develop youth leadership skills by building on youth interests, supporting personal goal setting, and promoting available opportunities. As an English and Leadership Educator, you will work alongside Mongolian teachers to strengthen English instruction through engaging, student-centered approaches. Beyond the classroom, you’ll support extracurricular activities—from English teacher trainings and youth clubs to student councils and summer camps—creating rich opportunities to practice English and build confidence and leadership skills. Your efforts will help young people become active, capable members of their communities while contributing to the country's long-term growth and stability.
