Utility Crew - Buffalo, NY Job Summary The Utility Crew member is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of grain handling equipment used to receive, transfer, store, and ship grain. This position performs a variety of operational, housekeeping, and rail-related duties while maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The Utility Crew Member schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with occasional overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts. Job Responsibilities Operate grain handling equipment including conveyors, gates, spouts, diverters, and grain transfer systems. Start, stop, and monitor equipment used to move and store grain. Open and close gates, lift bin lids, and adjust grain flow as needed. Collect grain samples using approved sampling equipment. Operate facility locomotive and assist with railcar movement, coupling, uncoupling, and switching. Operate pneumatic gate opening equipment for railcar unloading. Perform housekeeping duties including sweeping, mopping, shoveling grain, and cleaning work areas. Assist with routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs of facility equipment. Follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Industrial, agricultural, warehouse, or grain handling experience preferred. Ability to safely operate equipment and perform physical labor. Strong attention to safety and teamwork. Ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop, and work at varying heights. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work in grain dust, noise, and varying temperatures.
