Summary: Provides specialized reading instruction and support to improve student literacy and access to the educational program. Assesses student reading performance and implements targeted, research-based interventions. Collaborates with teachers and school staff to support instructional practices and promote student achievement in accordance with division standards and practices.
Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution in a state-approved graduate-level reading specialist preparation program, including a supervised practicum experience. Satisfied the requirements for the reading specialist assessment specified by the Virginia Board of Education; and at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was an important responsibility.
