Category Leader – Chemicals EMEA
Job Description: Location: Hamburg or Poznan Job Responsibilities:
• Ensure business continuity & mitigate risk: Proactively identify supply, quality, geopolitical, and regulatory risks across chemical categories. Design and execute resilience strategies including dual sourcing, inventory positioning, and supplier diversification to protect ADM’s operations. • Lead end-to-end category strategy & sourcing: Leverage market intelligence, internal demand, and spend analytics to define TCO opportunities. Own the full 7-step sourcing process: RFx issuance, supplier evaluation, data-driven recommendations, and prime negotiations on price, terms, quality, service, and risk provisions. • Deliver commercial value & manage contracts: Develop contractual frameworks with Legal, secure favorable terms, and establish short/long-term savings targets. Track category performance vs. TCO metrics and communicate value delivered to stakeholders. • Serve as single point of contact for up to 10 chemical categories, maximizing ADM’s global leverage while maintaining deep alignment with plant and business unit needs. Apply eSourcing best practices to all events. • Drive supplier performance & continuous improvement: Manage KPIs and SRM for key suppliers. Partner with suppliers to implement cost savings, process improvements, and innovation initiatives that support operational excellence. • Champion stakeholder engagement & compliance: Maintain robust communication with business partners on strategy, progress, and benefits. Partner with Quality, and Compliance to ensure all strategies meet legal, regulatory, and internal policy requirements. Act as change agent for Procurement as a value-added function. • Commercial skills and familiarity with contract law • Competent in financial analysis • Customer solutions focused • Proven negotiations skills • Skilled in cost/benefit analysis and alternative decision making • Technology adept (eProcurement and P2P systems, standard Office Suite such as Excel, Word, and Power Point) • Capacity to develop advanced strategies • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks efficiently and thoroughly • Global awareness (culture, currencies, geography, political) • Continuous Improvement Interpersonal Skills
• Communications (oral/written) • Ability to influence and lead outcome • Forward, visionary thinker • Skilled at relationship management, with internal and external partners • Team oriented Educational and Experience Requirements: • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field is required • A Master’s degree in Business is preferred. • Minimum of ten (10) years professional work experience with four (4) years in purchasing for global organizations • In-depth understanding of various contracting models is strongly desired • Experience in Chemicals Procurement is a strong plus
