Job Description: Fertilizer Barge Logistics Manager - Minneapolis, MN

Position Summary Reporting to the ADM Fertilizer Trading Manager, this role leads the coordination and optimization of fertilizer transportation across rail and barge networks. The position is responsible for overseeing daily logistics operations, driving cost efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and delivering reliable service. Oversee daily coordination and communication with all Class I railroad partners, working closely in alignment with grain business counterparts. This role provides leadership to logistics personnel and works cross-functionally with Commercial, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Terminals, carriers, barge lines, suppliers, and customers to align freight strategy with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities • Lead and manage day-to-day logistics operations, including shipment scheduling, tracking, issue resolution, and documentation • Supervise and develop logistics team members; set priorities, monitor performance, and support professional growth • Oversee coordination with carriers, terminals, suppliers, and customers to ensure efficient and timely movement of product • Drive operational performance by monitoring shipment execution, turnaround times, and service reliability • Analyze and optimize freight lanes, routing strategies, and cost structures to improve efficiency and reduce expenses • Own forecasting and capacity planning, ensuring alignment with commercial demand and supply chain constraints • Support and manage contract execution, including carrier agreements and service commitments • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies; maintain accurate records and reporting • Communicate performance, risks, and key metrics to leadership; lead continuous improvement initiatives • Act as escalation point for complex logistics issues and provide decision-making leadership in fast-paced situations • Contribute to the evaluation and analysis of strategic expansion initiatives and project opportunities • Manage and cultivate strategic partnerships to support operational performance and business growth objectives Key Skills and Competencies • Leadership and team development • Rail and barge logistics management • Freight strategy, execution, and optimization • Financial and cost analysis • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management • Data analysis, reporting, and performance management • Ability to prioritize and lead in a fast-paced environment Education and Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Agriculture, or related field preferred • 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or bulk commodities • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) • Experience with logistics or transportation management systems • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills • Willingness to support after-hours operations, weekends, and occasional travel Before applying for an exempt, non-exempt or hourly job opportunity, you are expected to initiate a discussion and share your intentions with your supervisor. * If you’ve been in your current position for more than 18 months, supervisor approval is not required. * If you’ve been in your current position for less than 18 months, verbal supervisor approval is required. ​Hiring Manager- Nick Peterson ​ Recruiter- Lauren Shea

: Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
