About this role

Skills and Experience Required – Inclusion Room Manager

Experience working with young people in a secondary school, educational, pastoral, or behaviour support setting.

Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students to make positive choices.

Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies, restorative approaches, and student engagement techniques.

Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and attendance procedures.

Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, and other additional needs.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents/carers, and external agencies.

Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations.

Strong organisational and administrative skills, including maintaining accurate records, behaviour logs, and intervention plans.

Ability to work effectively as part of a pastoral team and collaborate with teaching staff and senior leaders.

Confidence in supervising students independently and supporting their reintegration into lessons.

Good IT skills and experience using school management information systems.

Desirable

Previous experience in an Inclusion Room, Isolation Room, Behaviour Support, Pastoral Support, or Student Welfare role within a secondary school.

Relevant qualification in education, youth work, behaviour support, counselling, safeguarding, or a related field.

Training in restorative practice, de-escalation techniques, mental health awareness, or safeguarding.

Experience analysing behaviour and attendance data to inform interventions.
