Job summary
As a Salaried GP in general practice, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, holistic care to a diverse patient population. You will be responsible for managing a range of acute, chronic, and preventative health issues, working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The role involves conducting face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations, managing patient lists, and contributing to clinical decision-making and service development
Youll work closely with other GPs, nurses, healthcare professionals, and administrative staff to ensure continuity of care and to support the health and wellbeing of your local community. There are also opportunities to develop clinical interests, engage in quality improvement, and contribute to teaching or leadership, depending on your aspirations

Main duties of the job
This role involves delivering safe, effective, and compassionate general medical services to our diverse patient population. Working as part of the wider clinical team at Tower Family Healthcare, the post-holder will carry out a full range of GP duties including face-to-face and telephone consultations, home visits, reviewing test results, managing repeat prescriptions, and handling clinical correspondence. You will assess and manage undifferentiated and diagnosed conditions, screen for disease risk factors, and develop evidence-based care plans. The role also includes health education, referrals, prescribing in line with formulary guidance, maintaining accurate records, contributing to audits, and supporting service development. Flexibility to work across our four branch sites is essential to help meet patient demand.

To provide caring, safe and effective general medical services to our patient populationTo contribute to the design & development of services within Tower Family HealthcareIn accordance with the Tower Family Healthcare rota, as agreed, you will make yourself available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions, review and follow-up of blood test results and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashionMaking professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisationAssessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problemsScreening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illnessDeveloping care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocolsProviding counselling and health educationAdmitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriateRecording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standardsCollecting data for audit purposesCompiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriateIn general, you will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary careProviding cover across each of our 4 branches for other members of our clinical team in order to meet patient demandAwareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safetyA commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practiceContributing to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the organisationContributing to the development of computer-based patient recordsContributing to the summarising of patient records and read-coding patient dataAttending training and events organised by the practice or other agencies, where appropriate.Take part in significant events analysis / meetings

Qualifications Essential
Fully trained GP with CCT Certificate within the past 2 years only Up to date CPR training Appraisal / Revalidation up-to-date
Desirable
Higher post graduate membership, for example, MRCGP, MRCP, DRCOG, DCH Family Planning to include LoCSDI-IR, LoCSDI-IO, LoCSDI-RO, LoCIUT
Experience Essential
Currently working/training in General Practice or other form of community medicine or urgent care Evidence of consolidation of professional training, for example, able to demonstrate particular areas of clinical interest or further study Experience of multi-disciplinary team working Knowledge of national and local agendas in respect of primary care commissioning, intermediate and urgent care agendas
